Test Shots.
Lip Panning Test Shot.

We did a test shot of one of our shorter scenes in our film opening, this test shot is of the female assassin putting on lip stick getting ready for her attack. It was supposed to add a sense of mystery to the opening, leaving the audience asking questions such as; who is she? Why is she putting on lipstick? Which would not be answered until later on in the opening. The reason that it is a test shot rather than the one we would use in the opening is because whilst editing we saw that the lighting was too dark and therefore it made the clip look unclear and poor quality. By using it as a test shot it showed us as a group what we needed to do to improve on the clip to make it better and made us think about how we could use different lighting techniques to make the clip look sinister and mysterious without compromising the quality of the clip itself. Once we had seen this shot we re-filmed the same scene again using 'rembrandt' lighting and a much better quality DSLR camera; this helped us to produce a much more effective and professional clip.

Shots Used.

These images are close up shots of Veronica and a briefcase of money, we used this shot because we wanted the audience to capture the three main factors of the clip 1, the briefcase and its contents 2,The bright red lips(her attraction) 3, The scarf (used to kill her victims). The main effect that we wanted to create with these shots was a mysterious and sinister feeling, which we believe was successfully created. We thought that shots like this would show continuity when it comes to the same background showing what each character is doing.

This is a medium shot. This contains the figure from waist and upwards, and is usually used to show dialogue scenes here Mickey makes the phone call to Ray. In this shot we wanted to get Ray in with the car because we it showed that he was in a car park, and also to give that mysterious and corrupt feel of these 'dodgy businessmen.

This is a panning shot, a movement which scans a scene horizontally. The camera is placed on a tripod, which operates as a stationary axis point as the camera is turned, often to follow a moving object which is kept in the middle of the frame. We used this shot so that we can see Ray walking past Veronica, who we notice but he doesn't.

This is the lift scene- a scene consisting of a mid shot, a close up and another mid-shot, showing the death of Ray, Veronica killing him in her signature way which is with her scarf. Scene shows Ray getting into the lift, close up of faces in the lift and just before the door closes Veronica kills Ray.

A shot under the car just to show the feet as Veronica walks up behind Mickey as she is going to kill him. Second shot we see is of Mickey falling to the ground as he is killed. |
Editing.
During the editing process, we uploaded the footage that we had shot to Final Cut Pro- dragging the footage that we wanted to use in our final outcome into one line where we could cut any unwanted footage away or add in transition effects if we desired. We chose to only use transition effects and fade the clips from one scene to another at the beginning of the scene as we believed that this would add a greater sense of mystery rather than having it throughout and the audience considering it to be a consistent effect with no real desired impact on the audience. When we had collected all of our footage we began to edit the sound. To do this, we separated the clips from their sound and usually removed the sound all together as it was unwanted background noise which brought nothing to the clip; even the dialogue we removes eventually when Mickey is on the phone to Ray as it sounded noisy in the background and all round unpleasant to listen to- we removed the sound here and dubbed over using the same dialogue, adding a 'large room' effect onto the voice to make it more believable that he was standing in a carpark and not a classroom when his voice was recorded. We decided on which music to use as a group. The only problems that we encountered with the music was trying to get it spot on point with the film- for instance; the beat of the music flowing with what was going on on-screen such as where Veronica comes on screen following Ray into the airport and the music accompanies her as she walks on screen. We also included a sound effect of a car alarm going off in the carpark; this was fairy easy to do. All we had to do was turn down the volume of the background music as the car alarm sounded and then bring it back in after a substantial amount of time.
