Preliminary Task.
Before filming our actual film opening we had to do a preliminary task where we had to do certain shots in a thirty second clip trying to show a simple a narrative that could be identified throughout. The different camera shots that we had to show in out clip were a match on action shot, 180 degree rule and a shot reverse, which we did add. Our narrative of the story is of a boy who has stolen from an old woman and is confronted by his dad after the police have been round, we decided to do this type of narrative because for us it was easiest to portray and show, so that the dialogue was short but the narrative could also get across.
There three roles that were needed, there was camera woman which was Jessica, she would take the camera shots that were need. There was also a director that was myself, Caitlin and I directed and told the actors what they had to do, where the camera positioning should be and if I didn't like the way the acting had been done the camera shot was not done properly we would have to do the shot again. The actors were Rohith and Haaris and they had to make sure that the narrative was shown and the expression of their feelings were shown. For example Rohith was the father in the scene so he had to show that he was angry with Haaris, who played his son, Haaris had to show the feeling of being scared and trying to show some sort of innocence.
Once we finsihed filming we had to start editing, for this we used Final Cut Pro, whilst doing this preliminary task we all figured out how to use Final Cut Pro which we didn't before, so by us now knowing how to use the software, it would be easier for us to edit our actual film opening as we learnt how to add the footage and edit it so that everything ran well, so the shots like the match on action were smooth and the cuts were well paced, also whilst editing it helped us realise how long it actually is to edit and how much detail needs to go into it, so it helps us prepare for when we have to do our film opening, so that we know that we need to make sure that everything is filmed soon so there is enough time for us to edit, so that we can spend a good amount of time to making our film opening perfect.
